Cazals in Paris.... Get Your Trust Fund Buddies Together Gang!

So.... I am far from a trust fund kid (which is just fine with me) but I do know some and if I know them as well as I think I do than we can get 3 tickets to Paris to see the Cazals (we'll make up a story about orphans, investments, rehab money...something). Hey, why don't you do the same? Here is my no-fail plan for "Great Success" in tricking other people with money to get what you want (the feds and brokers have been doing it for years so don't feel bad).

1. Gather your closest trust fund friends and make a banging mac'n'cheese or top roman (hummus platter for the vegans) meal.

2. Get your Cazals tunes, pictures, bio's and remixes together and gush about Martin's talent, Luca's eyes, Warren's style, Daniel's flirty smile and or Phil's mysteriously-confident swagger over your meal. This way you are generating hype for dudes and competition for the ladies; both of which will fuel their eagerness to hit up ma and pop's for the cash money.

3. Create an "organization" that fosters and supports the "arts" or "those in need," or if you're dealing with heartless-blood suckers, ditch the humanitarian act and shoot for "investment of a life time." Hey, your not lying now.

4. Coordinate a "benefit dinner" for all the parents involved, separately, of course. You can do this by having your friends tell their parents you are going to assist them in their travels/efforts for the "organization" or "investment." It is likely they'll want to meet you and since trust fund moms can't cook (or rather not) they'll likely want to meet for dinner to go over the details (and probably foot the bill!).

5. Next you need to work it, work it, work it at dinner and charm the tits/berries off them.

6. Collect your cash, buy your ticket and head to Paris by February 4th to see Cazals in Paris at the Virgin Mega store on Avenue des Champs-Élysées. And enjoy.

Disregard all of this mess if you have have your own doe (or a trust fund yourself and have access to all the chedda).

Fires of Rome - Spins and Grins

Well, it is less than 12 hours until the debut album from NYC's own Fires of Rome hits the shelves. Since November, college radio, internet radio, and music blogs have been all over the albums single "Set In Stone", and the remixes by M83, Don Rimini, Dada Life and others. Within the last few weeks though, we have seen a rise in attention to several other notable tracks, including the albums opener "Dawn Lament", and rock anthem "Love is a Burning Thing".

It has been a hoot to see the albums impact around the country -- the bay area's CMJ award winning Bagel Radio has been giving the album some lovin lately, along with WLUR 91.5 out of Lexington, VA.

Everybody Can Dada!

Hey, Can We Have Our Breakfast Back?...NOT

Dada Life's Album is here! Kind of (March 9th)...

Dada Life, the sweetest Swedish duo has A: finished their album and B: Are ready fuck you up until 3 o'clock in afternoon and we couldn't be happier.

I think it's time to get historical in this mutha and discuss the meaning of Dada. Dada is like hippie in Swedish. A subculture, resisting the systematic shock and terrors of greed, war (WW I, to be exact) and betrayal. The lifestyle developed art that mimicked the shock associated with the tense environment and helped victims escape their tragic reality. Now, I did get this information off Wikipedia which is full of lie's and deceit, so take what you will...

Any how, stay tuned for Dada Life's plates to be dropped on your ass.

...For those (like me) who are hesitant to buy into "holiday cheer" with loved ones, which usually turns out to be loved ones questioning your artist lifestyle, random partners, drunk escapades which have been viewable on Last Nights Party and your career as a "DJ" in a pretentious manner (fucken blokes); than come on down to Last Chance Bar in Williamsburg (Grand st. between Leonard and Manhatten). Yes, at Last Chance Bar you can chug dollar (yes, $1) beers and soak in the atmosphere of other lonley fucks who have neglected their families too. I promise, your life wont seem as miserable when your looking at other miserable or drunkenly happy individuals. See you there!

Even On the East We Get Love From the West: Kanye

Its pretty exciting late after-noon/early evening NEWs around these parts. Mr. Kanye West gave Cazals some love on his blog. After changing my pants and undergarments, I decided to write about it.

Thing is, (as cool as we are, Kanye is 43278573 times cooler) a pretty big fuckin deal. We love Cazals with all our detached-New-York-esc-infested hearts and our joy was more of a reflection of our excitement for them. But I do hope this propels me as a contestant to be Kanye's baby mama. There is, however, one more person to thank in all this plethora of glitter, neon lights and smiles: Andre.

"MR. ANDRE" brings his trademark daddy-long legged pink stick man to life in UK dance rockers CAZALS video for "Somebody, Somewhere" on Mr. West's blog post.

Merci Monsieur A and Sticky-mac-stickerson!!!

It also seems appropriate to put up the video featuring French actress & model Lou Doillon.

So Many Thoughts

Being a Portland, Oregon native might have something to do with my giddiness, for this weekend has me fancy extra tickled pink. Starting Friday, avant-garde noise rock and DIY attitude will merge for the NY Ear and Eye Festival. Giant abandoned warehouse-flat to boot! We can thank Todd Brooks (also known as Todd Pendu) from the Pendu Organization in Brooklyn, NY after the weekend; when our socks are missing and minds have been blown.
Poster by Tingle Fingers (www.camp-f.com)

Brooklyn Pendu Organization is some pretty cool stuff; they reflect an idea of sustainability that The Hours can dig on. Their slogan “An arts organization with a focus on occultism, adhocism, & eroticism” captures an ideology of disregarding the mainstream path as the only path to follow. Here is a place that represents a group of artist that may not find freedom in the more corporate side of America. Most importantly we get some fresh art, because their full potential is being fostered and supported until it grows and wafts to some of us caught up in the other world. That is what I anticipate at the NY Ear and Eye Festival will be about, introducing people to some freshness that doesn't quite exist in our sterile world. Yea, we like it.
For more info on this magical event you can check out the myspace page at www.myspace.com/nyeyeandear, they have radio interviews that for auditory learners and band listings.

Paris (sigh). If I had only realized what kind of dark and delicious trouble I was getting myself into

Underneath the hundred mirrors, red velvet, disco balls and dance floors, I found myself too drunk to realize how dope of a party I was at. Sweat, smoke, accents and traces of blow illustrated a underground Paris scene the most would be lucky to dream about (if, indeed, dirty Parisian club going is your thing). Beatrice owner and renowned graffiti artist André showed love, Marion Cotillard, Daft Punk and others inflated the evening from live and fun, to exclusive and magical.

New York had been good to us so far. And beyond the anxiety of economic turmoil, descending employment market and political melee we've found a comfort somewhere in the middle. A strikingly similar story to my recent autobiographical chapter; being green to New York but for the most part, loving whatever it dishes out.

How appropriate to have worked for a record label that is experiencing the same habitual-urban preadolescence challenges as me. So I figured why not merge to the two? Why not blog about developments at The Hours if they can relate to my own triumphs, tragedies and blackouts?

Sure, I'm no socialite, daughter-of-somebody starting my “art” career nor is The Hours DFA, Sub Pop, or Def Jam. We are, however, both pretty fucken rockin in our own, humble beginnings, slightly crazy - will be noticed-way: which is a pretty rad start. So watch both of us move up or crash in the city that never sleeps and have some fun while doing it. As this label, blog, and life expands into New Yorks numerous scenes you'll be right with us. I may not be dancing with Andrew W.K or meandering about with Michael T or any other paradoxical partier for my starry eyed, fame thirsty generation -but that is not to say I wont.

Paris to New York; We Hold it Down.

From New York City to Paris, France we party until six in the morning. The Hours Paris showcase on November 20th was a spectacular time. Reunions with our Parisian brothers and sisters from Kitsune, to Andre and others made it a particularly intimate evening. Starting off the night was Fires of Rome, who gave the Parisians a good gritty dose of R&R. Following was the lovely Brits, Cazals. Once again, Cazals sounded tight; loosening up the crowd with their riffs and snare banging.

After the live sets, we decided to get a bit more Euro and expose the digital tricks up our sleeve; Dan Black and Dada Life. Here, we witnessed rugs being torn up by the cutting of our Paris fans. Dada Life is a electric duo, pumping hard beats for all legs to feel.

Speaking of Dada Life, their anticipated album (from Hours point of view) is near finished. Get ready to have your breakfast all jacked up.

Now what? We have loads of work ahead of us, for example, Fires of Rome have a new image for their debut album You Kingdom You (see below). Also, we will be throwing another party here in NYC soon! So much to do, so little calendar space. For now, you all stay and and get down.

We Likes to Party

Our Showcase event was a blast! I think it is safe to say we will be throwing loads more parties and concert events; especially when people are down and anxious due to the economic/social environment. The best way to cure those blues is music and cutting rugs.

DJ Angola spun a great set, the Europeans went wild; pumping their fist and dancing like it's London in 1999. Fires of Rome had a decent set, they are a good band but new, so performance perfection is a matter of doing more shows and adjusting accordingly. Many would agree, Cazals had a dynamite performance. They were tight, loud in all the right places and Warren the drummer was banging like he just got out of prison. We'll be putting up live video soon, for now check the pictures! Talented photographer Faith Ann-Young was there with her artistic eye to show love and take pictures, these photographs are credited to her. Thanks Faith!

Here are some blog responses from the enchanting evening:

Next up is Paris! Where the The:Hours is more situated in the music, party and too-cool scene. You will be educated on the event, just stay tuned.

In addition to the showcase, we also had a pretty smashing time with Cazals. Drinking, interviews and photo shoots (we managed to get in on that action!) were the norm. In the nocturnal hours, we scampered about the city listening to Cazals guitarist, Luca Ciampi, DJ at Annex, Le Poison Rouge and Beatrice. Annex being the most receptive of his Italian disco, Euro-house, digital taste.

In any respect, we would love to see you at our next party; we're not so much snooty about who joins, just as long as your not a belligerent asshole. Until next time all; stay up and get down.

Let Luxury Begin.

Greetings everyone! It has been an exciting day-- we will have our first major showcase event tomorrow in New York City at the Hiro Ballroom. Fires of Rome (NYC) and Cazals (UK) are certain to tear the roof off the joint. Tonight we have Cazals coming in from London-- there will be some partying here and there, but mostly we're prepping for tomorrows gig.

For those who may not know, Cazals are hot stuff in the U.K. Having recently toured with Babyshambels, their keen eye for fashion, great music with and dynamite lyrical content has put them right in the middle of awesomeness.

In order to avoid the real estate broker getting too suspicious, perhaps we'll reconsider putting up pictures of us tearing the place apart tonight. However, there are times when full thought is not practiced and we just do. Stay tuned for the glamorous life of The:Hours.

Also, come by and check out the showcase tomorrow; Hiro Ballroom, 371 W 16th Street, NYC. It is a FREE show, there will be an open bar from 8pm to 9pm, and then the sounds begin. Don't miss out!
